The Best Resolution for 2015

Buckle Resolution
New Year’s resolutions are like discovering new songs. For the first few days, you can’t get enough. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Then, after a couple of weeks, your obsession starts to fade. Until one day, it’s pretty much gone. Buried at the bottom of your playlists. Forgotten. A year later, you rediscover it and the cycle continues.

Sound like your workout plan for the first few months of the year?

Ringing in the New Year – we’re all guilty of having thoughts like: Yup. This is the year. I’m gonna hit the ground running. Maybe start eating salad. Become a morning person. Oooh, and try one of those hot yoga classes.

Come March, we’re all guilty of having follow-up thoughts like: Nope.

Resolutions are silly. A specific time of year can’t magically generate motivation into your daily life. Sadly, it doesn’t work like that. Inspiration is a tricky beast to tame. You won’t find her by waiting for a new year to roll around. And you certainly shouldn’t expect the flipping of your calendar to transform your diet or morning attitude.

So, what can we do? How do we get that “fresh start” feeling?

Free yourself from traditional resolutions. Yearly expectations are a tall order to fill. Make your resolutions daily instead.

I’m going to work out today is a lot easier than I’m going to work out this year.

Most importantly, dive in. Inspiration and motivation aren’t about timing. They’re about you. Start your next adventure whenever you want. It’s time to forget past mistakes and press on to greater ones. Then, wake up and do the same tomorrow.

Challenge yourself to go where you want to go this year. See what you want to see. Wear what you want to wear. Be who you want to be. If you allow your curiosity and inner-explorer to take over every day at a time, you’ll discover something unique when 2016 nears. That list of grand resolutions – it’ll be short. Possibly gone. Not because you don’t have ambition for the new year, but because you’ll already be journeying on the proud path of you. And no crazy claim for the year is going to change that.

Happy New Year from the Buckle Team. We hope you have a wonderful year. Wait. No. We hope you have a wonderful day. Followed by a better day, followed by a better day, etc.
