Live Undefined | Meet Matt
There are a lot of things we’re fond of at the moment, but the one that has iced-coffee sliding into second place? Our guests.
Next up in our Live Undefined series, we met up with one of our most loyal fans to talk music, style, and the harmony between the two.
You’re in a band. How long have you been a part of the group?
I’ve been in my two current bands, The Boy Band Night & Raise Your Glass, for a little over two years now, but I’ve been singing since I was 5 years old. I got into musical theater at a young age which is what really got me comfortable with being on stage and performing. After that, I was in a couple of original bands for the majority of my twenties, which lead me to the Chicago music scene that I’m involved with today.
What influences your music?
Even though I’m a rock guy, I’m very soulful at heart so pioneers like Marvin Gaye and Al Green are two of my BIGGEST vocal influences as well as new age singers such as, Brandon Boyd From Incubus, John Legend, and Zac Brown.
Does being a performer affect your style?
The clothes and accessories I wear on stage are like an extension of my personality. The bands I play with perform at a variety of different events, whether it’s a large public show that requires a look that leans toward rock, or a wedding or corporate event that requires a more professional, yet edgy look, I always have to adhere to a certain fashion demand depending on the show.
Does music influence it?
100% it does in every way, shape, and form! You don’t even have to be a performer for music to affect your style. Whatever music you listen to in certain ways makes you who you are and shows in the clothes you wear. I don’t think we would have certain trends or styles if it weren’t for artists in the past.
Personal Hobbies: Traveling to cool places with family and friends whenever possible, and swinging some golf clubs around when the crazy Chicago weather cooperates.
What can we find you listening to?
Literally everything! I just enjoy good music, doesn’t matter what the genre.
Zac Brown Band, Incubus, Disturbed, Muse, John Mayer, Eminem, John Legend, Sam Cooke, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Blink 182, Shinedown, Sevendust, Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, Chris Stapleton, and Prince
How does Buckle fit your lifestyle?
I have a crazy, “on-the-go” lifestyle between being a full-time performer and business owner. The Buckle has for the longest time been my absolute go-to on the fly when I need a specific style of attire for whatever the event, instead of having to run around town to go find it. Not to mention how welcoming, knowledgeable, and overall good the entire staff is. Shout out to the Orland Park Buckle Crew for always taking care of me!
Hurley, Society, Rock Revival, BKE, Oakley, 7 Diamonds, Society, Buckle Black, too many to name lol
What about these brands excites you?
The brands at Buckle cater to all of my different wardrobe needs, and I just love the way the clothes fit and how they make me feel comfortable. The way their clothes make you truly like the way you look has been a feeling that I’ve never been able to find at any other store I’ve shopped at!
Departwest Nomads, Rock Revival, Buffalo, and Salvage
