‘Tis the season for giving, right?
And what a better day than Giving Tuesday to share with you how Buckle is giving back, and how you can too when you’re shopping with us.
But before we introduce you to our give-back brands and products, let’s take a quick look at what Giving Tuesday is and how it was started.
Giving Tuesday or #GivingTuesday is an international day of charitable giving. It was started in 2012 by the United Nations Foundation, and takes place at the beginning of the holiday season, on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Last year, over $300 million dollars was donated globally to charitable organizations around the world, and this year’s looking even better with so many people willing to lend a hand, raise awareness, and give back to those in need and causes they care about.
At Buckle, we try to do our part by giving back through our people, our product, and our purpose. Today and every day of the year when you shop Buckle, you can give back through your purchases. Starting us off is the Buckle Believes Holiday Collection that supports three organizations with missions that are near and dear to our hearts.
Buckle Believe Holiday Collection
Because many of us at Buckle have been affected by cancer in some way, because cancer touches the lives of so many…
Because we believe that no one should ever experience bullying, because we’re united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion…
Because we believe in people reaching their fullest potential and the positive impact mentors have on youth…
We choose to support American Cancer Society*, PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, and TeamMates Mentoring Program by helping them fulfill their missions through financial support.
The Buckle Believes Holiday Collection supports these organizations with 20% of each item’s purchase price being donated to the cause. Each organization will receive an equal portion of the total donation.
Affliction – Freedom Defender Series

American Fighter’s What’s Your Fight? series supports our troops, firefighters, and law enforcement officers, with 10% of American Fighter’s proceeds from styles in the series being donated to Soldiers’ Angels, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
Through Good Work(s)’ positive and inspirational jewelry, the company makes a difference by pledging to donate 25% of their net profits to charitable causes supporting in-need communities around the world. Recently, they’ve built elementary schools in Kenya and Tanzania, provided 200,000 meals and 150,000 bags of groceries to underprivileged Americans, built water wells across the globe, and provided 160,000 meals to children in Uganda. Currently, they are building an orphanage in Russia.
Oakley – Infinite Hero Series
The Oakley Infinite Hero series supports military members and their families, with 10-15% of the proceeds from styles in the series being donated the Infinite Hero Foundation. This non-profit organization combats the most difficult issues facing military heroes and their families by funding programs that drive innovation and accessibility to effective treatments for those dealing with service-related physical injuries and mental trauma.
The start of Pura Vida was sparked on a trip to Costa Rica, and now the company is providing sustainable jobs to over 350 artisans in countries around the world. These artisans, who come from countries like Costa Rica, El Salvador, and India, can now count on a steady income and a positive working environment thanks to a hand up from Pura Vida and those who purchase the jewelry they’re making.
Tentree is a company that plants ten trees for every item purchased, but this commitment to sustainability extends beyond planting trees. The company aims to be the most environmentally-progressive brand on the planet by providing ethically-sourced fashion made from sustainable eco-friendly materials. Tentree’s clothing is made from materials like organic cotton, recycled polyester, hemp, cork, and tencel – and each clothing item comes with a tree token that can be used to see where the trees from your purchase are planted.
The originally one-for-one company has really stepped up their offerings since you slipped on your first pair of Classic Alpargatas (you know, the shoe that started it all). Their offerings, both in terms of shoes and ways they’re giving back, have really expanded.
Now, not only can you get sunglasses and pairs of fashionable well-made boots, sneakers, and heels from TOMS, but the company is giving back in more ways than ever before. The company is focused on improving lives, and through their one-for-one giving model, TOMS is providing shoes, sight, clean water, safe birth, and bullying prevention services. Every time a TOMS product is purchased, a person in need is helped. Now, that’s a company that we can really stand behind!
Buckle Believes in Humanitarian Relief
Our desire to give never stops, we’re also asking for your help in providing relief to those impacted by the devastating California Wildfires. To give to relief efforts, you can make a secure donation through the American Red Cross.
This Giving Tuesday,
join the movement and give in each and every way you can!
