Cue the 1920’s themed NYE parties and the “20/20 vision” jokes, the new year is quickly coming up.
With holiday gatherings and gift exchanges winding down, everyone’s focus shifts to the flip of the calendar, this one being extra special. A new decade means a glimpse or two at what we were doing 10 years ago (don’t get me started on the high school flashbacks) and what we’re hoping for in the next decade.
Let’s ring in the new year, and the new decade, by throwing out the old guidelines and dressing by our own rules 🥳
1. Dress for you!
Figure out what trends you love and what looks best on you. Take a look at what inspires you (hello, Pinterest 😏) and find pieces that reflect your true self. New Years is the best day of the year to experiment with all the special pieces in your closet. Tie dye + band tee + denim jacket + sequins + cheetah? Bring it on! The ultra-layered look is ideal for NYE party hopping and gives you plenty of conversation pieces to fall back on. When you look good, you feel good!
2. Stop playing it safe
Once you find that vibe that is just *you*, lean in to some pieces you might not have tried before! Bright colors, new patterns, and fun fabrics are an easy way to update your closet in a way that still feels like you. NYE is the perfect opportunity to stand out with sassy knee highs and a mini skirt so you know who notices you before midnight. Keep an open mind when it comes to bold pieces, they could become a go-to in the next year (and yes, we’re talking about this coat you won’t take off until spring).
3. Remix old and new pieces
Everyone has 5-10 outfits on repeat hoping their coworkers don’t notice (we won’t tell if you don’t 😉). Dig into the clothes you already have (like those staple flares you always get compliments on) and mix them up with your freshest finds, like that beret you know will elevate everything in your closet. Plus, if there’s ever a time to add a little sparkle in your life, it’s now, and we have all the options.
However you’re ringing in the New Year, do it your way, and tag @buckle with your celebration posts 💃🕺
