Denim is changing. It’s no secret that new stretch fabric is mixing up the denim scene. Not only are blues getting an upgrade, but they have become a fashion staple. Scroll through social media and you’ll be blasted with a wide range of styles and fits for everyone. Besides, jeans have that instant cool factor, perhaps now more than ever before.

Our Women’s Denim Buying Team knows all about that. Witnessing the evolution of jeans, these women have the inside scoop on the latest denim trends. Check out what makes these talented ladies so awesome and find their favorite go-to fits.

Meet Lynn

How have you noticed denim change over the last couple of years?

Denim is always changing! It is exciting to see denim on the runways and a resurgence of denim as a trend item again. In recent years, the trends have reformed from athleisure looks to the classic denim styles we are seeing for 2017.

What’s your favorite jean/fit?

I have a lot of favorites! Anywhere from a super stretch Buckle Black skinny to a vintage/rigid Levi’s!

Best upcoming denim trends?

Natural denim looks, 4-way stretch denim, and simplified details.

Who/what makes you laugh the most?

My boys (I have a 2, 4, and 6 year old)! #boymom

Who is your hero?

My dad (Steve) – A man of great character, work ethic, and love! … I also think Carrie Underwood is pretty cool too.

Meet Stacey

How have you noticed denim change over the last couple of years?

The evolution of fabric over the past few years has been one of the biggest changes I have seen throughout my time in the industry. High stretch fabrics offering extreme comfort have really changed the game in denim overall.

What’s your favorite jean/fit?

Who can pick just one?! I am loving the Buckle Black 53 skinny fit right now. The fabrics are amazing and it is one of the most comfortable jeans I own. The KanCan high rise is also a definite go to. It’s great to mix in the high rise option, especially to complete the perfect outfit. Levi’s is also doing a lot of great things with rigid denim and “look of rigid” comfort stretch, the 711 skinny is one of my favorites. My last must-have for the perfect casual and comfy weekend jean is the BKE Payton.

Best upcoming trends? 

Everyone needs a little destruction in their denim to mix it up! Colored denim is also another great way to go, adding more options and ways to wear denim. The 100% cotton vintage look is also one of my favorite upcoming trends.

Who/what makes you laugh the most?

Hands down, Jimmy Kimmel.

Who is your hero?

I wouldn’t exactly use the word hero, but I definitely admire Warren Buffett. While quite possibly being one of the most successful investors in the world, he is also humble, charitable, and a strong leader.

My perfect day would start with coffee, working with our amazing buying team to develop new denim concepts and products, and end with dinner around the family table. Unless it’s Saturday, then without a doubt it’s Husker football game day!

Meet Lexi

How have you noticed denim change over the last couple of years?

Wow – A LOT! And it just keeps getting better! I would say the fit and fabric of denim has definitely evolved and makes me WANT to wear my denim every day!

What’s your favorite jean/fit?

Well, I may have a slight jean obsession… let’s just say I have too many to count! Flying Monkey denim is definitely my go-to brand in ALL fits!

Best upcoming denim trends?

For fall, I am loving the more clean and simple looks that we will have coming down the line. I can’t help but already be excited for spring ’17. I am loving destructed jeans and how it all ties in with the bottom hem details!

Who/what makes you laugh the most?

Definitely my son, Nixon! As a new mom, he is the highlight of my day – everyday!

Who is your hero?

Well 15 years together and counting… my hero is definitely my husband! Every day he pushes me to be a better ME!

My perfect day would be a family day! It just seems like the minutes, hours, and days go faster and faster as time goes on! Family time is the BEST time!

Meet Jenae

How have you noticed denim change over the last couple of years?

I see the biggest change happening in the evolution of fabrications. Every girl out there is wanting comfort and that all starts with great fabric. We’ve seen fabric gain more stretch and retention components that makes for an easy, all-day wear.

What’s your favorite jean/fit?

I have so MANY favorites, but my go-to jean is the KanCan mid-rise fit with a good destruction pattern!

Best upcoming denim trends?

My favorite denim trends are high rise, embroidery, rigid denim, and exposed button fly. There are too many options to choose just one!

Who/what makes you laugh the most?

My puppy Raleigh Rue. He has such a spunky personality and some of the most random tendencies. #dogmom

Who is your hero?

My biggest inspiration is my dad. He is the most honest, caring, and selfless person I know. He is a “do-it yourselfer” and my constant reminder of how to live life to the fullest in all that I do!

My definition of a perfect day would involve my family and friends road trippin’ to the lake. Nothing is better than a lake day with the people who mean the most!

Meet Drew

How have you noticed denim change over the last couple of years?

Denim as a category has changed from more of a staple item in the wardrobe to a fashion item. People are wanting more trends in their denim with abrasion, hem details, and great washes.

What’s your favorite jean/fit?

My favorite jeans in my closet are the Lucky Brand Charlie Railroad Stripe and my first pair of vintage Levi’s I recently purchased.

Best upcoming denim trends?

Heavy destruction and busting. Ankle length skinnys with hem details are also a new favorite and of course, high rise!

Who/what makes you laugh the most?

My brother-in-law Jordan is hilarious with perfect wit.

Who is your hero?

My grandfather. He was always blessing people wherever he went and I have many great memories of him.

My perfect day would be a day “junkin” with my husband hunting for antiques and treasures for our home. I love the thrill of the hunt and being side-by-side with him in the truck!
