Make Time For Yourself

Like you, we’re finding ourselves with a classic case of the January’s…

Feeling overwhelmed with the constant stream of influencers telling us how to burn off those Christmas cookie calories the quickest and wondering how seemingly everyone is going on those epic tropical vacations already…

Not to mention those 2020 resolutions we have pinned up at our desks that we’ve already forgot to follow through with 👀

We’ve got a simple solution for all those seasonal feelings, and honestly you’re not going to hate it: Make Time For You

We’ve heard it all before, self-care is an ever-important topic. And while we encourage you to keep up that weekly face mask and chill to fight the Sunday Scaries, we’ve got a few ideas up our sleeves to help you (and ourselves, tbh) make more time for yourself.

Catch up with friends

We know as well as everyone else, it’s so easy to fall into a routine and forget to socialize, but keeping up those relationships with friends and family is so important to your well-being. While eating lunch at your desk and getting right into your comfy clothes after work is easy (and sometimes the thing you’re looking forward to all day) you can benefit mentally and physically from a lunch date or happy hour with the pals or even your mom. Social interactions with people you’re close to can relieve feelings of stress and loneliness, which have negative effects on your mind and body.

Even if you think you’re too busy, put a date on your schedule weekly, even if it’s for just an hour, and reap the benefits of friendship.

Meditation

The scientifically-proven benefits of meditation are well-documented, and the best part is you can do it anywhere and take as much or as little time as you need or want! Meditation reduces stress, which in turn controls anxiety, lengthens your attention span (which we can all use), and enhances your self awareness!

Meditation can take many forms! You can take a walk, journal, download a meditation breathing app, take up yoga, or even enjoying a cup of tea or a meal by yourself without other distractions can be beneficial!

Pick a new favorite show

We’re pretty sure you’re already taking advantage of this “me time”, but think about watching a new show that’s just for you and not for watercooler discussions or because everyone else is watching it! Watching an episode or two a night can help you wind down, and you might as well pop on a face mask and chug some water for some self-care multitasking.

You can also choose to start a new show or movie club with your significant other or BFFs to bond over. This can be a great way to build relationships, as long as you don’t watch episodes without them!!

While it can be so easy to binge a season in a few nights, think about incorporating some other hobbies or interests into your nightly routine (like some ideas we provided, perhaps 😏) to keep you moving and feeling your absolute best this year.

It’s a new year, a new decade, and we’re feeling pretty good about all of the things to come – so let’s make better, not over, and enjoy all of the little wins along the way. Let us know how you’re starting the year off right in the comments below!
